Gary Crawford has been transforming porcelain and stoneware clay into wheel-thrown and hand-built functional and sculptural art pieces since the early 1970s.  He started making pots in a studio in his barn on a farm south of Cannon Falls.

Gary strives to make art that is accessible for people to touch, use and enjoy on a daily basis.  He incorporates images and ideas from experiences outside his daily life, such as travels into other cultures or natural environments.

Gary is continuously exploring techniques and forms.  His work spans four genres: traditional wheel-thrown, functional stoneware for everyday use; more colorful wheel-thrown porcelain for decorative and functional use; painterly pots with abstract or figurative drawings; and sculptural pieces that combine hand-built and thrown elements.
